[Published in the Monett Times on December 31, 2010] Michael Duane Addleman, age 49, of St. Louis, formerly of Mt. Vernon and Springfield, Missouri, passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the St. Louis University Hospital after battling a long illness. He was born on May 24, 1961, in Corvallis, Oregon, the son of Duane and Nancy (Brown) Addleman. Michael grew up in Big Rapids, Michigan and it was there that he accepted his Lord and Savior.
He was a 1979 graduate of Big Rapids High School in Michigan. He attended college at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor; Ferris State University at Big Rapids, Michigan; Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, and obtained his law degree as well as a master of business administration from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
Mike was proudly involved in Boy Scouts. He was an Eagle Scout; was chosen to represent the Boy Scouts of the state of Michigan at the White House for a scouting recognition ceremony; attended Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico as well as the Boy Scout National Jamboree.
Throughout his life he was not only active in Boy Scouts but was Vigil Member and Chief of the Order Of The Arrow; attended Michigan Boys State and later returned as a staff member; was a member of the Bar Association; former president of the Lions Club of Freistatt, Missouri; was involved in the Walk to Emmaus, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon.
Mike worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, prior to moving to Mt. Vernon. He was then employed by Jack Henry in Monett, where he worked as a corporate attorney and returned to work for the Federal Reserve Bank this past year as a bank examiner.
Those surviving him include; his wife, Emily Mathis Addleman, and their children: Abby Suzanne and Daniel Duane, of Mt. Vernon; his father: Dr. Duane Addleman, of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers: Stephen Todd Addleman, his wife, April, and their children, Stephanie and Wyatt, of Fishers, Indiana; Thomas Andrew Addleman, his wife, Robin, and their twins, Tred and Dean, of Harrisonville, Missouri; one sister: Katie Lynn Thieman, her husband, Brent, and their children, Morgan and Drew, of Springfield, Missouri. His mother, Nancy, preceded him in death.
